History of 198 Squadron RAF, 1918 to 1945. Includes information on Sorties, pilot and aircraft losses, photos, bases, etc. This website's origins started more or less by accident some years ago when its founder was trying to research information on the web regarding the squadron, however, while references could be found that had obviousely been extracted from 198's not always accurate Operations Record Book (ORB) there was next to nothing by those who had actually served with it. To cut a long story short a small website was set up in February 2003 detailing the history of just one of 198's Hawker Typhoons which attracted so much interest, information, and material from those who had served with the squadron, and relatives of those who did, that within a matter of months it had become possible to build a website on 198 from the viewpoint of those who knew the squadron best.
